These Shepard avocados actually contain more potassium than bananas, as well as fibre and monounsaturated fats for a healthy heart. These beauties come direct from Queensland and are the next most common variety of avocado after Hass.
One thing you do need to be mindful of is that, unlike Hass, Shepard avocados actually stay glossy and green as they ripen. The best way to test if your avocados are ready for eating is to apply gentle pressure on the stem to see if it yields. If it does, it’s ready to go!
